Bill, what is your background?

I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2001 with a BBA in Finance. I began working with Wells Fargo in 2002, and over the years have assumed several roles within the mortgage lending field the course of the past 18 years. I began work with Nexa Mortgage LLC in March of 2020 as a mortgage broker.

Why should a potential customer choose you?

  1. I pick up the phone and treat customers as if they are not just a number. (This is the #1 negative thing I have heard about other mortgage lenders.).
  2. I am a mortgage broker, and brokers are better. Better pricing and better service all around as compared to a large bank or large mortgage banker.
  3. I have access to multiple bank and lending programs which means more options for my customers for both residential and commercial mortgages.

What was it that made you want to get into the mortgage industry?

I remember when I got my first home loan back in 2006, and I also remember what a nightmare that process was. The whole process took close to 90 days and multiple lenders to complete, and finally one day I was able to close on my new home. I made a promise to myself that I would be sure to take care of my customers better than anyone else so that they do not have to endure the same super stressful mortgage experience that I once did.

What are the advantages that come with being self-employed?

Many advantages come from being self-employed, and the most important one is that I get along with my boss. It’s fun talking about yourself in the third person. Mind you that means I am always going the extra mile for all of my clients and I work more than most, but I find my customers appreciate the extra care and attention I give them as well.

Where do you see your business in the following years?

I see myself shortly, expanding my operation in Houston and recruiting a team of mortgage loan officers to work for me and to take care of their customers the same way I do. I would hope that I could leave a lasting impression in the Houston Mortgage Broker arena. Realistically this goal is probably a 5 to 10-year commitment to achieve, but that is my plan.

What is your company’s mission statement?

“Our mission is to provide our clients with the highest quality of brokerage services available with the aid of one-stop shopping for Real Estate and Mortgage financing. To bring a value-added and highly qualified team of mortgage professionals to the table for all of our clients from the smallest to the largest. To act in the best interest of our clients at all times- bringing unquestionable ethics to each transaction. To become trusted advisors’ for our residential and commercial mortgage needs. To develop long-term client relationships by providing exceptional brokerage services that drive unparalleled customer satisfaction.”

What are the biggest issues for running your mortgage business?

There are only 24 hours a day is my biggest issue with being in the mortgage business. Personally one of my biggest challenges is not delegating enough of the work I do every day to my assistant, which is something I am currently focusing on to improve my quality of life.

Do you have employees? How is your team structured?

As of right now, it is just me on the origination side of things, but I am always looking to recruit and train new loan officers. I do also utilize third party processing assistants to help my clients close on their home loans.
