Suzette, what is your background?

I went to school for business. I spent 12 years in the Utility industry in various roles of system development, project management, rules & regulation development, and management. I then took a break from the working world to stay at home with my kiddos after my 3rd child was born. During 2017, I was approached with a business idea to start a dog training company. I’m not a dog trainer, but I am a dog owner and I had been through the process of paying a lot of money to get my dog trained with not the best results. I was immediately drawn to the idea of creating a company that focused not only on training dogs, but also on making sure their humans were trained to become a better leader. It was with this in mind that our mission statement, “We help dog lovers become responsible dog owners through education and training” was born.

Why should a customer choose Come And Train It K9?

We value the importance of making sure the owners understand and know how to use the training their dog has received. We give the owners follow-ups, and they get access to group classes that allow them to come out and work their dog around other owners who have also gone through our training program. We also maintain weekly contact with the owners on the progress of their dog. When they call us we pick up.

What made you want to start your Houston Dog Training Company?

The opportunity to provide a dog training solution for families that included more than just a well-trained dog. We allow families to have more freedom and flexibility in their lives.

What is the biggest advantage that comes with owning your dog training business?

You can create the vision you want. You can make a difference in people’s lives.

Where do you see your business in the following years?

I’d like to see our referral business grow to be at least 50% of the total leads received in the next year. In the next 5 years, I’d like to see 2 locations. In the next 10 years franchised throughout Texas.

What is your mission statement?

We help dog lovers become responsible dog owners through education and training.

What are the biggest issues for running this business?

We’ve only been in business for 3 years so brand awareness is the biggest obstacle. Getting our name out in a market where there are a lot of dog trainers in the area takes time and consistency.
