Gabby, what is your background?

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Physical Performance from Saint Louis University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Psychology from Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, I have special certification in Pediatric Nutrition from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. For the past 6 years, I have worked as a clinical dietitian in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. Outside of the hospital, I am an avid runner, golfer, cyclist, and overall exercise enthusiast who has personally experienced the effects of quality nutrition on energy and athletic performance. My passion lies in helping motivated athletes (recreational, high school, or just very active individuals) reach their full potential through nutrition.

What separates your services from your competitors?

I provide a highly customized experience for my clients that you are unlikely to see with other nutrition counseling practices. I won’t just give my clients stock nutrition tips or hand them a cookie-cutter meal plan. Each individual comes to the table with a unique set of personal goals and challenges that require attention. I actively listen to clients, use science-based nutrition strategies, and turn their goals into a feasible action plan. Most importantly, I provide clients with ample support throughout the process to prevent them from falling off the bandwagon.

Why did you start this business?

Honestly, I was tired of working for someone else and wanted to pursue my own passions. I wanted to be my own boss and knew that I was driven enough to make it happen.

What is the biggest perk to owning your own business?

The major perk of having your own business is that you get to put your time, energy, and creativity into the things you’re actually passionate about. You dictate your own schedule and truly get out of it what you put in.

Where do you see your business in the next year, five years, and ten years?

In the next year, my goal is to have a full client load, including a variety of both recreational athletes and adolescent athletes hoping to make it to the next level of competition. In the next 5 years, I’d like to expand my practice to other parts of Texas and would like to have hired a staff of other motivated dietitians. By 10 years, I want to have found a way to bring free sports nutrition sessions and seminars to inner-city teen athletes. I know from experience that small changes in kids’ diets go a long way in improving their sports performance and overall health. I’ve always had a passion for pediatrics and nothing makes me happier than to see a child grow and thrive.

What is Peak Performance Nutrition’s mission statement?

To propel athletes of all levels to their peak performance through evidence-based nutrition counseling and ongoing personalized support.

What are the biggest issues for running this business?

Right now the biggest hurdle has been getting the word out that I am here and open for business. With many organized sports and clubs on hold due to COVID-19, it’s been challenging to connect with athletes. However, NOW (the “off-season”) is the ideal time to get your nutrition on track!

Do you have employees?

At this time, I am my only employee (although my pets provide me with ample emotional support!)
